4.Determination of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungal Propagules with Most Probable Number Method

Keitaro Tawaraya(Faculty of Agriculture, Yamagata University)

Several conditions of most probable number method were evaluated for measurement of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal propagule. Onion, white clover and sorghum were grown in Akadama soil inoculated with several diluted levels of inoculum of Glomus mosseae. Most probable number of propagules was higher in onion than in white clover and sorghum. Number of propagule determined in 2 weeks after sowing was different from that determined in 3 or more weeks after sowing. Number of propagule in uncultivated soils was 8.76 /g in brown lowland soil and 0 /g in Andosol.
