2.Detection and Identification of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Colonizing Plant Root by a Molecular Technique

Kazunori Sakamoto and Ken-ichi Katoh(Faculty of Horticulture, Chiba University)

Detection and identification of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AM fungi)colonizing plant root were examined by a molecular technique. Four species of AM fungi(Glomus etunicatum, Glomus clarum, Gigaspora rosea, Gigaspora margarita)were inoculated to leek. Ribosomal small subunit rDNA (18S rDNA) of AM fungi extracted from leek root can be amplified by PCR method to be visualized on the electrophoresis as well as spore. Identification of AM fungi colonizing root by SSCP method is developing now.
